Life after ECQ: We’re not even on the half time yet, keep your head in the game

As the Philippines transitions to the ‘new normal’, it will be curt to assume that things will be business-as-usual for anyone.Preparing for what is to come feels like waddling through a vast murky swamp of uncertainties with no other option but to move forward on this journey of self-care and self-preservation.As the government gradually lifts regulations on the imposition of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), here are some tips we want to impart with everyone after the lockdown has been lifted:

1.) ALONE IS ENOUGH, TWO’S A COMPANY, PLEASE AVOID A CROWD!

Humans are social beings and with the imposition of the lockdown, most of us felt trapped within our homes. Once the quarantine is lifted, we can anticipate an influx of people in public places – avoid at all costs unless truly necessary or up until it’s safe to do so.

Bear in mind that asymptomatic hosts of the Coronavirus can swiftly infect people especially in crowded areas. Continue the practice of social distancing and be grateful if you can just stay at home – it’s a luxurious commodity not everyone can afford at these times.

2.) PROPER HYGIENE IS A MUST.

Just because quarantine guidelines are eased up, it does not mean that your hygiene practices should relax too.

With the looming certainty of a ‘Second Wave’, you can reduce your chances of being infected or spreading COVID-19 by taking simple precautions such as proper handwashing, good respiratory hygiene (this means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow when you sneeze or cough), wearing face masks, and other measures to minimize the transmission of the virus.

3.) MANAGE YOUR FINANCES.

According to Money Management International, this pandemic brings a lot of financial uncertainties to almost everyone. Until we are all certain that there won’t be another quarantine, it’s best to be smart in managing your finances.

Creating a budget, fully understanding your finances, and creating an emergency fund should be some of your top priorities during these times

4.) EAT WELL, FEEL WELL, BE WELL.

Being healthy has always been the goal but it has never been more important as we ease into the ‘new normal’.

Key health practices such as eating a well-balanced diet, staying hydrated, remaining physically active, getting enough rest, and managing stress are some of the factors you can control in keeping yourself safe, armed, and ready.

5.) CONTACTLESS IS ABSOLUTELY MORE.

As we ease into the new normal, contactless transaction is becoming the new norm. From getting your daily essentials to food deliveries, always opt for contactless services – it’s easier, safer, and convenient.

Yes, COVID-19 has been a major curb ball and we’re not even on half-time yet. However, with the right kind of game plan, we can all run towards the right direction of a deafening ‘SAVE!’ as we reach the home run.
